Step Inside a 90s VHS Rental Store in Victor’s Video Vault
The debut demo for Victor’s Video Vault, a first-person horror game from Stingbot Games, is now available on PC via Steam. Set inside a reality-bending video rental store in 1995, the game transforms familiar ’90s nostalgia into something far more terrifying.
Players take on the role of a small-town video store employee tasked with closing up after the final customer leaves. What starts as a routine shift quickly becomes a nightmare. Each final rental transforms the store into a terrifying world inspired by the movie being played. Surviving the five-night ordeal requires players to learn each scenario, solve puzzles, and make difficult decisions under pressure.
The store initially feels cozy, with regular customers browsing the movies and bright lights keeping the darkness at bay. However, that comfort quickly disappears as alien hives emerge from ceiling tiles, tornadoes rip through the aisles, and floodwaters hide mysterious creatures.
The new demo offers a taste of Story Mode through a single night in the store, where players must survive a terrifying encounter with a Lagoon Monster determined to drown the lone employee. The game also combines atmospheric pixel art with the nostalgic look and feel of an old-school video rental store.
“Who’s Victor? Funny question,” said Sterling Selover, President of Stingbot Games. “You’ll meet him early, but you’ve got to stay alive if you want to know more about the guy. He holds secrets you’re going to want to know about, but the shop needs to be taken care of before anything. The demo’s dip into Story Mode is just the start — once you dig into Archive Mode, you’ll see the world through a different lens. Just stay alive until the Archive opens closer to launch!”
For horror fans, this is one video-store shift that definitely won’t end quietly.
