Netflix Has Surge in Downloads Since Adding GTA Trilogy to its LIbrary

Netflix Sees Surge in Game Downloads Following GTA Trilogy Addition

Netflix’s game downloads have experienced a significant boost, primarily because of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition in its library. Available on the App Store, Google Play, and Netflix’s mobile app since December 14, all three remasters are accessible to Netflix subscribers without additional charges.

The addition of these high-profile games has had a substantial impact on Netflix’s monthly game downloads. Appmagic data, as reported by Mobilegamer.biz, reveals a remarkable increase from around 10 million downloads in November 2023 to approximately 28 million in December 2023.

GTA San Andreas emerges as the most popular among the trilogy, boasting 11.6 million downloads to date through Netflix. GTA Vice City follows with 4.1 million downloads, and GTA III contributes around 2.4 million, resulting in a collective 18.1 million downloads for the entire trilogy.

However, the success of Netflix’s gaming platform isn’t solely attributed to the GTA trilogy. Other popular downloads include Annapurna’s Storyteller (9.4 million), Too Hot to Handle (8.4 million), and SpongeBob Squarepants: Get Cooking (8.3 million).

Netflix introduced its library of mobile games in late 2021, accessible through the Android and iOS versions of its app. The recent surge in downloads reflects a growing interest in gaming content among Netflix subscribers, reinforcing the platform’s commitment to diversifying its entertainment offerings.
