Show ‘Em Who’s the Boss in River City
Gamers, prepare for an action-packed adventure! The official game overview trailer of River City: Rival Showdown is finally available on YouTube. And it is obvious that the developer Arc System Works has put so much love into this title. They also revealed the release date along with the platforms in the video. The game will launch on 12 October 2023 for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
River City: Rival Showdown is a side-scrolling beat ’em-up game. It is a revamped version of the 1989 classic River City Ransom. It will feature tightened controls, new visuals and sounds, and different gameplay modes and challenges. Additionally, it will have an online multiplayer co-op option, allowing players to team up with a friend to fight their way through the game together.
The game follows the story of Kunio Kun, a delinquent high school student as he fights his way through the streets of River City. He can throw a variety of punches, kicks, and special moves to defeat their enemies. There are tons of weapons and items to pick up along the way as well.
It has a branching story mode with multiple endings. The choices made by the player throughout the game will affect the story and how it ends. It also features a new 2D fighting game mode called “Double Dragon Duel 2023”. In this mode, players can select from a variety of characters from the River City series and battle against each other.
Overall, River City: Rival Showdown is a well-made beat ’em up game that is sure to please fans of the River City series and of classic beat ’em ups in general.
