Detective Pikachu Returns Announced for October Release

The Case of the Missing Modern Graphics

Earlier today, during Pokémon Presents, several announcements were made for new and current games. One of the more interesting reveals was Detective Pikachu Returns, the sequel to the 2018 3DS game Detective Pikachu. The original game got moderate reviews, but after the release of the film, the Pokémon Company announced a new game.

Tim Goodman also returns for the new game. Just like the movie, Tim is a human and can understand what Pikachu is saying for some reason. In Detective Pikachu Returns, Tim and Pikachu will be in Ryme City. Here, we will meet Tim’s father, mother, and sister, as well as his friend Rachel and her father, the mayor.

Detective Pikachu Returns

Pikachu and Tim are the perfect team for solving cases in the Pokémon world. Tim talks to the humans and Pikachu talks to the Pokémon. They put their heads together and figure out mysteries in ways no one else could.

There will also be other Pokémon joining the adventure. Companions like Growlithe and Darmanitan have abilities that will be useful to Pikachu and Tim. Growlithe can use her incredible sense of smell to follow clues and Darmanitan can break through obstacles and open up new paths.

Unfortunately, this game looks like it is from an era before even the 3DS. Hopefully, the gameplay will be fresh enough for fans to look past that. Detective Pikachu Returns will be coming to Nintendo Switch on October 6th.
