Development Ends for Back 4 Blood in Favor of New Game

They’ll Be Back

For the past few years, Left 4 Dead veteran developers at Turtle Rock Studios have been working away at a worth successor. While Back 4 Blood has added, improved, and modernized much of the gameplay, it didn’t completely fill the void left by Left 4 Dead.

Earlier today, Turtle Rock Studios announced that active development has ceased for Back 4 Blood. There will likely be minor updates with bug fixes, but it appears that major content additions are not being made or scheduled.

Back 4 Blood

The exciting part of this news is that Turtle Rock Studios is starting to make their next game. Who knows what is on the horizon for these developers. Will it be another co-op shooter? Zombie game? Or maybe they will dip their toes into something brand new. Whatever it is, it will surely be a grand time for gamers.

Back 4 Blood launched in 2021, just in time for Halloween. 2022 was the year of post-launch content. Three major expansions were released, along with smaller free updates. These included new Cleaners, new types and variants of Ridden, as well as ways of tricking out your tools of destruction.

Back 4 Blood is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. It can be played with PS Plus and Xbox Game Pass.
