Konami is “Leaping Forward” with “New Developments” for an Old Series

Konami Has Plans – Nefarious, or Stupendous?

Gamers have been wary of Konami for a good long while now. Even before the nuclear fallout that was their now-broken relationship with famed game director Hideo Kojima, few saw the company in a good light. And after recent ventures, the company seems unlikely to revine anyone’s positive feelings anytime soon. But hey, anything’s possible, right?

Now, it seems like Konami is hopeful they can rekindle something. They’re being cagey about the details (because of course they are). They haven’t said anything about the specific IP they’re expanding nor the way it’ll grow. But something’s a-brewin’ over at Konami headquarters.

This year is the year of the Rabbit, so we are planning power-ups and new developments for familiar series with the aiming of leaping even further,” Konami said.

Additionally, we’re deeply and quietly progressing on new project(s) that we have yet to announce to you all. Konami is leaping forward, so by all means please stay tuned.

There are more than a few options at Konami’s disposal that would turn heads. Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, and Silent Hill all come to mind. All beloved IPs, all still with active fanbases, all thirsty for something new. Despite attempts by various other developers (and even Konami themselves), nothing has quite been able to reach these fans’ desires. Not like things were in Konami’s golden years.

A developer-renaissance is far from impossible – remember when Capcom was floundering before the Resident Evil resurgence? They’ve firmly established themselves in the cultural zeitgeist, and there’s always room for one more.
