“It’s About Time.” – John MechWarrior
Fans of MechWarrior rejoice! 3 full years after the release of their last game, the mech-battling franchise is getting another installment. A full single-player adventure, from the sounds of it!
“We’re still working on MechWarrior, which has been somewhat surprising to me, that we’ve been able to work on it this long, which is great,” the President of Piranha Games said in an interview on the NoGutsNoGalaxy Podcast.
I’ll just say that it’s not MechWarrior Online 2, it’s not the successor to MechWarrior Online, it’s not online PvP—think of it more inline with MechWarrior 5, but a standalone game, a standalone product.”
He also mentioned that the game would be coming to PC and consoles both. So no matter which you prefer, you’ll be able to join in on the fun!
Other than this basic info, details on the game are still being kept close to its developers’ chest. We know nothing of the plot or story, for instance. Given how early in development the project likely is, that kind of secrecy is probably warranted – they might have answers to give! But they will come in time – and that kind of certainty will be a blessing to any fan.
But where details are sparce, speculation reigns supreme. What parts of the MechWarrior world do you think they’ll explore next? What parts of the gameplay do you think they’ll polish up for this new installment? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments down below!
