Escape From Darkov
You may have heard some buzz about a game called Dark and Darker over the last couple of months. No, it’s not a goth spin-off of Dumb and Dumber. It is a very challenging and punishing multiplayer dungeon crawler with battle royale elements. It is currently in an ongoing alpha playtest phase.
The third alpha playtest had been going on for the past week. If you have been one of those players that have been online for each of those days, trying to squeeze out every once of Darker that you can, then there is good news for you. It was meant to end yesterday, but developer Ironmace has chosen to extend the trial by three more days! It’s a Christmas miracle!
Dark and Darker has been compared to another wildly popular game Escape From Tarkov. You and your friends enter a dungeon with your chosen gear, fight your way through halls of enemies, picking up more weapons and more gear, leveling up along the way. However, if you die and your team cannot recover your gear, it’s lost.
Despite its harsh combat conditions and unforgiving toll for death, gamers can’t get enough of it. Ironmace cites network and stability issues early on in the playtest for their reason to extend it. There might be some truth to that, but we really know that Ironmace are just a bunch of big ol’ softies that want to give gamers a warm and cozy holiday activity.
Dark and Darker is currently in alpha on PC. To play the alpha, you can just request access on Steam. The new end date for the current playtest will be on December 26th.
