Superfan Decodes a Hidden Mass Effect Message from Bioware

Mass Effect Just Stealth-Dropped a New Reveal

N7 day has always been a special occasion for the Mass Effect community. Taking place every November 7th (of course), Bioware would release some token of appreciation to the fans, and the fans do what they do best.

โ€œRegardless of when you joined us, through four games and more expansions, I can say with certainty that weโ€™re in this because of you, and every N7 Day is a wonderful reminder of that,โ€ project director Mike Gamble said in his annual N7 Day message.

But this time around, things were a bit different. Aside from the usual thank you, a strange little tease was dropped.

โ€œFor now, there is something we want you to have a look at. Weโ€™ve intercepted some strange footage from one of the monitoring stations in known space. It could be nothing, butโ€ฆโ€

The visuals alone are nothing to scoff at. And thereโ€™s certainly not a shortage of details to speculate on. That โ€œMR 7โ€ has certainly piqued the interest of some. But whatโ€™s with that garbled audio? Is it just generic space noises?

Of course it wasnโ€™t. And one fan set out to prove it. Here are their results:

In a later tweet, Bioware confirmed that this was a message from Liara Tโ€™Soni herself. And those robotic noises? Extremely reminiscent of the Geth race from Mass Effectโ€™s canon. Thereโ€™s a weird number of coincidences between these details and things already hinted at about the next Mass Effect entryโ€ฆ
