Control 2 Will Be ‘Worth the Wait,’ Says Game Director

Control 2 Is Codename Heron

Control 2 is actually Codename Heron. Remedy themselves confirmed this to the gaming public. The project will be a collaboration between Remedy and 505 Games.

With Control 2, we will take another leap into the unknown,” said Game Director Mikael Kasurinen. “It will be an unexpected journey.”

Kasurinen then continued to reassure fans that the sequel is, indeed, coming but will apparently “take a while.” “To put it mildly, this is the most exciting project I have ever worked on,” he added. “It is still early days but it will be worth the wait.”

Remedy will still own the IP. However, as previously mentioned, they are going to share the load with 505 Games. With that said, both teams are going to split the costs when it comes to development, marketing, and net revenue. The former will be handling the publishing on PC, while the latter will be responsible for the console launch.

Control is the biggest investment 505 Games has ever made, revealed 505 Co-CEOs Rami and Raffi Galante. “So it has a special place in our hearts.” The newly formed team will be playing with a budget of a little over $51 million. This is approximately $20 million more than the budget allocation for developing the original title. It has come to light that the budget for the first game was only less than $30 million.

At the moment, it remains unknown where the extra budget will go. Control 2 is sill in its early concept stage. Moreover, devs have not given out much information about the sequel just yet. However, the franchise’s fans are well aware that it is going to be built on Remedy’s Northlight engine.
