Overwatch 2 Lead Hero Designer Has Left the Building

Another Overwatch 2 Dev Has Left Blizzard

Overwatch 2 Lead Hero Designer has left Blizzard. Geoff Goodman’s history with the franchise goes all the way back. In fact, he was already part of the game’s team even before they named the project Titan. He was one of the few people that the gaming public approached regarding the game’s balance changes and new heroes.

We thank Geoff for his many years of service at Blizzard and wish him all the best,” a rep from Blizzard said. “His ability to bring to life Overwatch’s diverse hero roster through gameplay has been incredible and the mark he has left on the Warcraft and Overwatch teams will be felt for years to come.”

Apparently, the former Overwatch 2 dev “made the decision to leave Blizzard earlier this year.” He last appeared with other devs in a press conference just this June.

Unfortunately, the company did not provide an explanation as to why he decided to leave. However, it is worth noting that it does come after a series of high profile departures from the company. The gaming industry is well aware of the lawsuit that the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing filed against Blizzard.

Geoffman said in April that they wanted to make sure every member of the development team was in a “good spot” before they started “returning to work on the game.” “It seems to be that everyone is much happier now and things are going forward,” he said at the time. “But I think it is still there and still lingers—it is definitely a morale hit.”

Overwatch 2 is due to launch on October 4th. Although majority of its following is excited, there are still some who are not liking the changes in the sequel. Apparently, devs are going to lock new heroes behind Tier 55 of the free track. “It seemed to be a very strong fit to put those heroes into our new engagement systems,” said General Manager Walter Kong.
