Mask of the Rose Launch Moved to 2023
Mask of the Rose fans may not be too happy with devs at the moment. Failbetter Games has just revealed to the game’s following that they have decided to move its original autumn launch schedule to next April. However, it would seem that they had good reason to make this decision.
“We could ask our team to put in significant overtime to meet the current schedule,” devs wrote. “But it is important to us to provide a good work place where everyone has time for personal and family life.”
Apparently, the leaders of the Mask of the Rose team started to see signs of an overly tight schedule. The stress level was starting to get too high for most staff members. Because of this, they became too reluctant to take some time off. They did say that they can easily “cut features and parts of the story.” However, they do not want to do this since they do not want to release a “game that did not fully meet” their intentions and ambitions.
“Our players and backers would rather get the game later in its best state rather than sooner in a worse form,” they continued. “So that leaves us with the third option—moving back the schedule.”
Fortunately for Mask of the Rose fans, devs “do not expect to move the release again.” “We will have a specific date for you in the next few months,” they added. “We hope you will bear with us for a little longer.”
“Ultimately, we feel that Mask of the Rose presents the most fully featured and mature UI presentation in any of our games to date,” they said. “We look forward to you getting your hands on the finished version upon the full game’s release in April 2023.”
Mask of the Rose joins a long list of games that their respective devs delayed until the first half of next year. Bethesda neatly moved the launch of both Redfall and Starfield.
