Cyberpunk 2077’s Expansion Is Finally Coming in 2023
Cyberpunk 2077 devs confirmed to the gaming public that they finally have a targeted release for the game’s expansion. CD Projekt CEO Adam Kicinski revealed that the much-awaited expansion is due to launch in 2023.
“As it was mentioned in CD Projekt Red’s financial call moments ago, Cyberpunk 2077’s upcoming expansion will arrive in 2023,” devs wrote on social media. “Please stay tuned for more details coming later this year.”
This is good news for the Cyberpunk 2077 community. The game arrived in the gaming market in unexpectedly dire condition. Its rocky start pushed devs to focus on fixes instead of expansions. Devs confirmed last year that the expansion was already in development. However, a bulk of their team focused on fixing the game’s multiple bugs and issues.
The need to work on the core game slowed down the development of any new Cyberpunk 2077 content. Thankfully, fans now know that devs did not really give up on the plan for more Cyberpunk.
“We are fully committed to the Cyberpunk franchise and intend to develop it further,” Kicinski said. “Right now, the bulk of our team is working on the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion that is targeted to be released in 2023.”
Contrary to popular belief, the delay of the expansion is not at all related to the delay of The Witcher 3’s next-gen upgrade. Kicinski confirmed that “not many” developers had to be present to complete the project. Plus, he also stated that taking over the project “will not affect the development” of their other titles.
Sadly, he did not provide any further details about the expansion’s specific release date in 2023. For now, fans of the game will have to wait until they announce some more information later this year.
