Sons of the Forest Devs Delay Launch to October 2022

Sons of the Forest Delayed to October

Sons of the Forest has been delayed to October of this year. The horror survival game was initially due this May. However, Endnight Games has announced that they need more time to finish the sequel.

Over the past few weeks we have realized that our May 2022 release date for Sons of the Forest was overly ambitious,” devs wrote on social media. “To be able to deliver our vision of the next step in survival games, we have decided to move our release date to October 2022.”

Sons of the Forest delay

The upcoming open world survival title is actually the successor to 2014’s The Forest. Devs first announced Sons of the Forest in December of 2019. Players will be building their own camps, foraging for supplies and food, crafting armor and weapons, as well as defending themselves against the forest’s strange creatures.

Unfortunately, Endnight did not provide any information on exactly when the game is coming out. This recent announcement is their first update about Sons of the Forest since last fall. Thankfully, their recent announcement came with a short preview of what fans can expect when the game is finally out.

Sons of the Forest will bring new enemies, improved weather mechanics, and greatly enhanced AI. All of these make for a very ambitious project. This is understandably why devs need more time to finish and polish the game. The series’ first installment was a remarkably ambitious and dynamic product. With that said, it has become clear that devs want to to keep pushing the genre forward.

Endnight is a relatively small studio that has proven to have large ambitions. How these ambitions manifest in Sons of the Forest remains to be seen. Fans will have to wait until October to find out.
