Samurai Bringer, Japanese Roguelike, Slashing to Release April 21st

Reclaim Your Power, Slay the Beast

Ready your blade. Perfect your techniques. Reclaim your lost powers. Today Playism announced that indie developer Alphawing’s Japanese roguelike game, Samurai Bringer, is releasing on April 21st on Nintendo Switch, Steam, and PS4. The game will bring new features to the classic roguelike genre and is full of Japanese mythology.

Samurai Bringer throws players into the shoes of Japanese deity Susano. Players take on the role of the warrior after his failure to defeat the eight-headed dragon Yamata-no-Orochi. However, instead of dying Amaterasu the Bringer of Samurai intervened saving Susano. Now players must reclaim his lost power. You will fight through procedurally generated levels that change with every playthrough, battling hordes of demons and Samurai. Additionally, as you fight you will gain new styles of fighting. Collect enough and players can make their own. Between slashing, thrusting, jumping, and more you can mix and match styles to find one that fits your playstyle.

Furthermore, Samurai Bringer features a whole lot of items and enemies. The game features over one hundred samurai who you can defeat to gain their weapons, armor, and stats. Some of these Samurai include legendary warriors such as Oda Nobunaga and Sanada Yukimura. You will need to use your skills as a warrior to defeat them and make your way back to the mighty eight-headed dragon.

A trailer from January gives players a glimpse of the game. In addition to showing off the art style, the trailer also gives players an interesting look at different weapons and how they may change gameplay.

Samurai Bringer is releasing on April 21st, 2022. The game will be available on Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam, and PS4. Are you looking forward to this roguelike? Additionally, how do you feel about making your own move set in a roguelike?
