Destiny 2 Devs Plan to Adjust Drop Rates for Ascendant Alloys
Destiny 2: The Witch Queen devs are working on patches that target drop rates for Ascendant Alloys and Deepsight weapons. This is to reportedly help smooth over the weapon crafting grind within the game.
“The drop rates and unlock requirements for the Wellspring Throne World weapons are currently going to gate off too many players from being able to earn their Exotic glaives,” said Game Director Joe Blackburn.
Blackburn was referring to the quest line that requires fans to craft all of the new weapons before unlocking one of the three new Exotic glaives. The availability of these weapons are reportedly one of the biggest pain points among Destiny 2 players.
A lot of the patterns required to craft these weapons only drop in the new Wellspring activity. However, fans have observed that they are exceedingly rare at the moment. Some players have complained that they were not able to unlock a single one despite going through a full day of grinding.
Destiny 2 players need Ascendant Alloys to unlock enhanced perks on crafted weapons. However, Blackburn has revealed that they currently not where they want them to be. A separate patch due on March 3rd will reportedly increase the odds of players getting Ascendant Alloys from high level activities. This depends on the difficulty of the activity and the players’ Champion completion level.
This means that Destiny 2 players who run a harder version of the game and kill all of the Champions will have a better chance at obtaining the Alloys.
The upcoming Destiny 2: The Witch Queen patch will increase the drop rate of these weapons in Wellspring. Devs are reportedly going to add a “bad luck protection”. This will eventually guarantee a pattern-unlocking Deepsight version of the weapons.
“Next week, this step should be a lot easier to make reliable progress,” Blackburn confirmed.
