Final Fantasy 14 Is the Reason Why Square Enix Was Successful Last Year
Final Fantasy 14 was the main reason why Square Enix had financial success in 2021. Since the launch of the MMORPG, there has been a rising number of people that wanted to experience the game for themselves.
Final Fantasy 14 was such a huge hit in the gaming world that devs even suspended its sales. They had to stop selling the game for several months. Apparently, the huge influx of players made servers too congested. Many fans had to wait in line for long hours just to be able to log into the game.
Devs brought back its digital sales after a few weeks into the new year. Devs put data center expansions in place to accommodate new players. Square Enix gives a lot of credit to Final Fantasy 14 for raising their yearly profits.
They reported a 4% increase in sales as well as a 17.1% in their operating income in their latest financial report. This substantial increase pushed the studio to increase their profit forecast for the rest of the financial year.
The growing number of subscribers to Final Fantasy 14, profits from merchandise sales, and sales for the Endwalker expansion were specifically called out. Devs saw a significant uptick in the number of paid subscribers for Final Fantasy 14 even with the game’s generous free trial.
The success behind the game is very much well-deserved by the MMORPG. It has never been in such a better state even with the initial login and congestion issues following the launch of the Endwalker expansion. Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida is at the helm of laying out the studio’s plans for the franchise’s next decade. With that said, it is highly likely the success will continue for Square Enix.
