Final Fantasy 14 Devs Will Now Release Major Patches Every 4 Months

Final Fantasy 14 Devs Are Going to Have Some Extra Breaks

Final Fantasy 14 devs have revealed that they will now only roll out major content patches every four months. Fans of the franchise may have been used to their previous cycle of every 3.5 months. However, Square Enix has confirmed that they changed it to four so they could add polish the game even more as well as lessen crunch time for the team.

Director Naoki Yoshida has informed the gaming community that the studio wants to focus on the health of the whole team behind Final Fantasy 14. They want to be able to address issues that have the team feeling overwhelmed with their work load.

During a recent live stream, Yoshida acknowledged the fact that there are periods where the Final Fantasy 14 team pushed themselves too hard. In order to ensure that everyone is able to maintain the quality in their work, he is giving them the breaks that they need.

The additional two weeks gives the team one more week of implementation and another for fine-tuning. The devs are also getting an extra week for summer periods as well as the New Year’s holiday season. By implementing this, the team can have more personal time with their families.

The Final Fantasy 14 project has grown substantially through the years. Its core pretty much depended on the motivation of the devs over the past decade. There are now more jobs, races, and evergreen content. It was no longer healthy to maintain all of the extra content within the same cycle. With that said, Yoshida thanks the franchise’s loyal following for their commitment and understanding.

Furthermore, Yoshida has also confirmed that they “do not intend on incorporating any sort of NFT element in the game at this point.” “If anybody is worried or concerned about it, I can clearly state at this time that we do not have any intentions to incorporate that into the game,” Yoshida confirmed.
