Devs Confirm There Is Nothing New on the Terraria 2 Front Just Yet

Terraria 2 Is Not Happening Soon

Terraria 2 fans were sent into a frenzy when Creator Andrew Spinks teased them about the sequel on the Internet. He recently changed his social media bio to Terraria 2: A New Age. This led fans to believe that a follow-up title to the original could be in the works.

This is not the first time for Terraria 2 news to make its rounds online. However, with no confirmation from the devs themselves, they always ended up fizzing out.

Re-Logic released the original game in 2011. Through the years, the franchise has managed to remain relevant within the gaming industry due to constant updates and new content.

Unfortunately, it has come to light that Spinks was actually not teasing an imminent Terraria 2 announcement. Head of Business Strategy Ted Murphy confirmed that the studio has been hard at work at “actively experimenting, doing game jams, and growing” their skill sets. It looks like they are busy working on their next big title. However, there is no word on what this new game is going to be.

Re-Logic is doing “a lot of thinking and strategizing about what sort of game would make for the best second offering.” “While certainly a sequel to Terraria would be one possible path we might take, we are actively considering others,” Murphy revealed. “Given this state of things, we really are not ready to share the exact direction that we plan to take with our second game at this time.”

According to Murphy, Spinks’ teases about Terraria 2 are nothing but “fun banter.” “You will note that quite a few of our team members have changed their Twitter locations to different Terraria-themed games,” he said. “This is all in good fun and who knows what the future might hold?”
