Destiny 2: The Witch Queen Trailer Gives Players a Sneak Peek into Savathun’s Throne World
Destiny 2: The Witch Queen just got a trailer. Developer Bungie released the preview for the title’s upcoming expansion. The fresh footage shows off the picturesque and terrifying landscapes that players will be entering within the Throne World.
The expansion is launching to the gaming world on February 22nd. Starting next month, Destiny 2: The Witch Queen players are going to be facing Savathun herself, from her palace to a mysteriously spooky swamp.
“All that she hides can be found here,” Bungie wrote. “Seek the truth and learn that, in this place, mystery makes its home in both the Darkness and the Light.”
Some very observant Destiny 2 players have also noticed a variety of new gear that the expansion is bringing. A huge portion of these new weapons have the same kitbashed tech aesthetic that was observed in the previously shown armor sets. This could potentially go very nicely with Bungie’s promises of bringing weapon crafting to the franchise.
Destiny 2: The Witch Queen’s Hive seems to feature a full-on Gothic vibe. However, fans of the franchise will probably notice some familiar landscapes shown in the trailer. It looks like the devs put a new spin on the aesthetic featured on the Moon in Destiny 2’s Shadowkeep and the Dreadnaught ship from the original game’s Taken King expansion.
Some of the scenes also hint at other areas expanding towards a Darkness-themed zone. This zone has a geometric design and an ominous-looking black pyramid. There also seems to be a Scorn-infested forest that could end up being a new stomping grounds for the game’s new zombie-like foes.
This recent Destiny 2: The Witch Queen trailer follows a much longer video that devs premiered at The Game Awards 2021.
