Awards, Announcements and More
The Game Awards is about to commence once again. This year’s lineup of games includes a wide variety of different genres, titles, and hopefully, a ton of new announcements.
Video Game Awards host Geoff Keighley recently made a few statements about what we can expect from the show. According to Keighley, we can expect to see 40-50 games in some way, shape or form at the awards. This includes nominated games and video game announcements. Most of these will probably appear as nominations or already announced titles, but Keighley did mention the number of new announcements will likely be in the double digits.
“You know, it’s great to have celebrities, it’s great to have music, but I think focusing really on games is important,” he said. “Especially this year, there’ll be a lot of content for 2022 and 2023 that will be showing us our kind of biggest lineup yet of world premieres and announcements.”
What games can we expect to make an appearance at The Game Awards? Other than the list of nominees, not much has been officially revealed regarding what games will be announced this year. But there are a few teases floating around the internet.
A new game by Improbable Studios is getting revealed during the show. Embark Studios’ upcoming game ARC Raiders was teased to get a reveal at the show on Twitter as well. The tweet showed a teaser trailer with the date December 9 at the end of it. The Game Awards Twitter responded with, “See you soon.”
Geoff Keighley also mentioned there will be an abundance of game adjacent announcements too. This means lots of things like shows or movies adapted from video games will be announced during the awards. The upcoming Halo series and Arcane are two big series we already know will be involved in the show somehow.
The Game Awards will be free to watch via Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and more at 8:00 PM ET / 5:00 PM PT on December 9.
