Nintendo eShop Is Being Glitchy on Christmas Morning

Nintendo eShop is Down on Christmas Morning

Nintendo Switch’s storefront is acting all laggy this Christmas morning. Many gamers are waking up today to start enjoying their brand new Switch consoles. Unfortunately, they will be coming across a problem that Switch users are familiar with just about every year. Basically, the eShop is down.

Players need to connect to the Nintendo eShop to make purchases or to download new games. Sadly, however, they have been getting errors every time they try to connect this morning. This issue has been going on for hours already. They will get the error code 2811-7429. The message will simply stare at them as they keep trying to load the shop.

We are currently experiencing difficulties with our network services,” the Nintendo status page displayed. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”

At this point, Nintendo eShop patrons will just have to wait until devs fix the issue. The server rush every Christmas season is not new. Developers are most likely already aware of this yearly problem, but it still happens year to year.

This problem should not be too disruptive, however. Switch users can still boot up their devices and play the games that they already have. They just cannot buy new games or download new DLCs—yet, anyway. Also, they will not be able to redeem gift cards. This will be a huge disappointment for those who got gift cards for Christmas.

Switch users who got physical copies of the game will be fine as well. After all, they do not need to access the Nintendo eShop to boot up their new title.

At the moment, it does not seem like the Switch’s rival platforms are experiencing Christmas outages. Considering that not a lot of PS5 and Xbox Series X units are available out there, there may not be a big rush on their online services.
