MiHoYo Details Genshin Impact’s First Major Update for 2022

Enkanomiya’s looking promising!

Genshin Impact has grown a lost since it first released in 2020. Now that the game’s still going strong into 2022, it’s up to MiHoYo to to continue support for their flagship title. And now, we have details on what that expansion, entitled “Fleeting Colors in Flight“, will look like.

Scheduled to hit servers on Jan. 5, 2022, this update introduces the new Enkanomiya area, an underwater island with an artificial sun. You’ll have to use that sun to solve puzzles in the heart of this new playspace. This ancient land is under constant threat of the Abyss, eroding at the sides and infesting the lands with monsters.

Genshin Impact 2.4 Feature

The Lantern Rite festival also makes a return, offering a chance at a new four-star character by the name of Liyue. Her flying palace will have a special feature in the Lantern Rite, so this isn’t some random inclusion!

Finally, Genshin Impact’s next update features two new characters: Yun Jin, and Shenhe. Yun Jun is an opera singer (featuring voice talent from an actual opera performer!) who uses Geo Vision, offering stat bonuses to allies. Shenhe weaponizes the cryo element, and uses his polearm to deal damage and support allies.

More details can be found on Genshin Impact’s own website.

Genshin Impact is a critically-acclaimed MMO that’s often been compared to Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. But unlike that game, Genshin has an undeniable, overt anime style – and is just reveling in that look. It’s available for most modern platforms, including mobile ones – and is free-to-play. Xbox players have yet to see this title reach their shores, but if you’re not among them, you could dive into this new world as early as today.
