Possible Free DLC For Resident Evil Village and Monster Hunter Rise

Temper Your Expectations Though

Every year or so, publishers will release boring reports of their earnings, successes, sales trends, blah blah blah. Capcom has recently released their integrated report for 2021, spanning the entire company. This covers sales from merchandise, films, and of course, video games.

The infographics show Capcom’s accomplishments over the past year or so, including the releases of Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil Village, and Monster Hunter Rise, as well as their plans for the future. While most of this stuff is meant for the eyes of investors and boring to the average gamer, there are sometimes little gems of news hidden among it.

Resident Evil RE:Verse

It appears that Capcom is preparing some free DLC for Resident Evil Village and Monster Hunter Rise, individually of course. The report contained a seemingly off-hand remark, “Further, we will drive our customer management to understand the playing trends and preferences of users while also building a business model for online operations, taking into account the situation of our free additional DLC for titles such as Monster Hunter Rise and Resident Evil Village.”

That sounds cool and all, but it might not be all it’s cracked up to be. “Free DLC for Resident Evil Village” sounds kind of familiar. Where have we heard that before? Oh yeah. RE:Verse will be the free multiplayer mode for owners of Resident Evil Village. We’re not saying that these are one and the same, but we’re also not hearing that from Capcom.

As for Monster Hunter Rise, there will be a paid expansion called Sunbreak that will be coming out in 2022. Since Capcom is talking about free DLC, Monster Hunter Rise will hopefully be getting something cool, like another game mode or additional in-game items.

There is currently no solid release date or details for either of these games’ DLC. Monster Hunter Rise is available on Nintendo Switch and will be out on PC on January 12th, 2022. Resident Evil Village is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Stadia.
