Make Even More Photographic Memories With 20 New Pokemon
New Pokemon Snap is a very nostalgic title as-is, but the free update coming next week will add even more new areas to explore and new Pokemon to encounter, bringing even more of the Pokemon world to vibrant life. The update was announced with an accompanying two-minute-long trailer that spends equal time thanking players for enjoying the game and teasing new additions.
The video starts with a lengthy thank-you section, kicked off by the appearance of a happy Mew that appears to be celebrating New Pokemon Snap‘s success. This opening segment shows off a wide variety of Pokesnaps as well as several Pokemon waving happily or dancing in the camera lens.
After a long, Jurassic Park-style cinematic look at a crowd of Pokemon going about their daily lives in the Lental region, culminating in a glimpse of the Legendary Pokemon Ho-Oh soaring across the sky, the video explicitly thanks the players. Then it stops celebrating what’s already in the game and starts teasing everything that’s about to be added to it.
Key features include:
- Secret Side Path (Day/Night) – The NEO-ONE shrinks to a tiny size when you explore this area, so the Pokémon you see will look gigantic! You can even hear their breathing and footsteps in this thrilling area, and you might spot new kinds of behaviour[sic] from Pokémon you’ve seen before.
- Mightywide River (Day/Night) – Mightywide River is a nurturing water source that provides the whole of Belusylva Island with sustenance. You’ll be conducting research as you ride down the river, so be on the lookout for rapids as you search for Pokémon, and keep your camera ready so you don’t miss capturing them in action.
- Barren Badlands (Day/Night) – In this area, you’ll research the badlands of Voluca Island, where dry winds from the desert blow. This area has many peculiar features, from geysers to poisonous, gas-spewing swamps. Pokémon may be hiding underground or in the rocky cliffs, so keep your eyes peeled for them while you’re on your expedition.
We’re most excited about the Mightywide River, its waters teeming with creatures like Gyarados and Feraligatr, but the Secret Side Path also looks like a magical experience. And spotting Onyx poking their heads out in the Barren Badlands is thrilling in its own right.
And that’s not even considering the 20 new Pokemon added to the game in this update. It’s clear that New Pokemon Snap still has a lot to offer players, and we can’t wait to see it.
New Pokémon Snap is now available on Nintendo Switch. The free content update will be added on August 3rd, 2021.
