New Pokémon Snap Trailer Shows off New Items and Locations

Oh Snap!

By the end of the month, Nintendo Switch owners will be able to play New Pokémon Snap. It has been 22 years since the first Pokémon Snap game came out and we have to ask ourselves, what exactly is New about this one? The premise remains the same. Jump in your all-terrain pod and follow a set path while taking the best snapshots you can of the Pokémon you encounter. There are also items and tools that can help players get unique opportunities for pictures. Judging by the new trailer, some of these tools will be returning, but there will also be new ones to use.

New Pokémon Snap

The new trailer is only in Japanese (maybe an English one will follow soon), so the details are a little fuzzy, but it is also really long and full of information regardless. We learned earlier that there the time of day will affect your photo ops and Illuminous variants of Pokémon will play a special role. Items from the first Pokémon Snap such as apples and a music item like the Pokéflute will be returning and providing benefits similar to their predecessors. There are also new items that appear to invoke an Illuminous effect on Pokémon or react to certain foliage to create new opportunities for photos.

There also seems to be a scanning tool that allows players to see hidden points of interest and even unlock alternate paths in different levels. We will not have to wait long to see what else New Pokémon Snap has to offer fans. New Pokémon Snap will be coming out on April 30th for Nintendo Switch.
