Naughty Dog Releases a The Last of Us 2 Update Out of Nowhere

The Last of Us 2 Update 1.09 Drops

Today, much to everyone’s surprise, we learned that Naughty Dog has released The Last of Us 2 update 1.09 July 1 patch today. This was an unannounced title update. We didn’t expect this given the PlayStation 5 60 frames-per-second boost patch was released about a month ago.

This is just a tiny update, weighing in at 96MB. It’s hardly newsworthy but it’s been a slow day the Friday before a major US long weekend.

The Last of Us 2 Update 1.09 July 1 Patch Notes | The Last of Us Part II Update 1.09:

Size: 96MB

Per the PS4 update history:

  • General bug fixes and improvements
  • Fixes the in-game timer when playing in 60FPS mode

I know, it’s not much of an update but here we are. If more information arrives with regards to this update, we will share it with you.

At the time of writing, Naughty Dog has not released any patch notes or mentioned what this title update is for.

If you missed our Last of Us 2 review last year, click here. At the time, our man Paul had this to say:

“The Last of Us Part 2 is uncomfortably real. It’s gritty, heavy, and polished to a mirror sheen. Even now, a week on from completing it, I’m feeling its weight. It’s far from what I anticipated, but crucially it did the work to get me invested. An astounding technical marvel, The Last of Us Part 2 deftly weaves diverse exploration and fun combat into the mix, resulting in a truly brilliant package.”
