Are You Here To Fight?
We’ve gotten plenty of information about the hotly-anticipated upcoming fighting game The King Of Fighters XV, from character reveals to the announcement of a short anime movie by Fatal Fury director Masami Obari. Now, though, we’ve finally got a more concrete idea of when King Of Fighters XV will be hitting our screens – and we’ll be waiting a little longer than we first thought.
Despite being slated to launch in 2021 back when it was first announced, developers SNK have now revealed that the game has been delayed until the first quarter of 2022. This comes in the middle of a huge reveal campaign, in which SNK have been launching a character reveal trailer every second week since February. We now know 23 of the characters that’ll be appearing in King Of Fighters XV, including fan-favorites like King and Terry Bogard. Whether or not this release schedule will slow down following the delay announcement has yet to be seen, but SNK have given no indication that they intend to slow the release of information. Hopefully, we’ll get a good look at some gameplay soon!
The characters we’ve seen so far are divided into teams, as per usual for the King Of Fighters franchise. So far, seven have been confirmed: Hero Team (Shun’ei, Meitenkun and Benimaru Nikaido), Sacred Treasures Team (Kyo Kusanagi, Iori Yagami and Chizuru Kagura), Fatal Fury Team (Terry Bogard, Andy Bogard and Joe Higashi), Orochi Team (Yashiro Nanakase, Shermie and Chris), Art of Fighting Team (Ryo Sakazaki, Robert Garcia and King), Ikari Warriors Team (Leona Heidern, Ralf Jones and Clark Still), and finally Secret Agents Team (Vanessa, Blue Mary and Luong). If your favorite character hasn’t made the cut yet, don’t worry – there’s going to be plenty more revealed in the coming months!
The King Of Fighters XV is scheduled to release in Q1, 2022, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC.
