Dawn of the Dead
If there’s on thing this year’s E3 has had no shortage of, it’s co-op shooters. From the newest title in the Rainbow Six series, Rainbow Six: Extraction to the next original IP from Arkane Studios, Redfall, it’s looking like there’ll be plenty of co-operative action to go around for the next year. One of the new shooters coming up is an updated edition of the popular 2019 movie tie-in game World War Z – World War Z: Aftermath.
Aftermath will include all of the content present in World War Z: Game Of The Year Edition, as well as brand-new story missions, game modes and updated tech to bring the zombie apocalypse into the ext generation. A new version of Sabre Interactive’s Swarm Engine will allow hundreds more zombies to be present at any time, as well as brand-new enemies like swarms of infected rats. The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game will include Horde Mode XL, a game mode that pits you against endless waves of the undead. Horde Mode XL won’t be present in these versions initially, but will be added in a free update following launch.
In a bid to increase immersion, Aftermath has added a new first-person mode to the game. Along with this, you’ll be able to customize and upgrade your character through eight different classes –Â the Gunslinger, Hellraiser, Slasher, Medic, Fixer, Exterminator, Dronemaster, and Vanguard – as well as customizing your weapons to make your character truly your own.
World War Z: Aftermath will launch later this year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S version coming in early 2022. While there won’t be a free upgrade for players who own the original World War Z as we’ve seen with other next-gen upgrades, these players will be able to purchase Aftermath at a discounted price.
