You Can’t Keep a Good Assassin Down
Just as we predicted, No More Heroes and No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle will be arriving on PC next week. Grasshopper Manufacture’s cult classic games about assassination, over-the-top swordfights, and being a total nerd will soon be available on Steam. Considering the level of acclaim and consistent popularity the No More Heroes games have acquired over the years–and the release date for No More Heroes 3 looming ever closer–it’s not exactly a surprise that the first two titles are being ported now. No More Heroes 1 and 2 will also be arriving on Nintendo Switch in an exclusive physical edition thanks to Limited Run games.
The PC ports will include HD support, smooth 60FPS gameplay, and plenty of additional features such as Steam Cloud support. They will also be 10% off at launch, a deal that will last until June 15th, 2021.
The No More Heroes franchise tells the story of Travis Touchdown, a twenty-something loser who spends all his cash on a beam katana and sets out to become the world’s number one assassin. The only problem is that to become number one, you need to kill your way up the ranks–which would be a lot easier for Travis to do if people would stop lying to him. Filled with developer Suda51’s trademark sense of humor, social commentary, bizarre imagery, and deliberate cliffhangers, the first No More Heroes game is still beloved for good reason. No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle picks up where the first game leaves off, with a disillusioned Travis being sucked back into the assassination game.
No More Heroes and No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle will be available for purchase on PC for $19.99 / £17.99 / €19.99.
