Konami Deny They Asked Akira Yamaoka to Remove Possible Silent Hill Tease

Loose Lips Sink Ships

Prepare yourself, because this is going to be another Silent Hill Article. I know, I know, you’re tired of hearing about it by now, especially because all of our previous articles led many – including me – to think that an announcement during The Game Awards was a done deal, only for it to come and go with not even a whisper about Silent Hill. Still, there was a lot of evidence, and the original leaker is still claiming a reveal is incoming.

And, according to a (now deleted) video, it could still be incoming, and this time the video came straight from one of the creative minds behind the game, legendary composer Akira Yamaoka. Teasing his next project, he claimed that “it was the one you’ve been hoping to hear about.”

True, Yamaoka has worked on a variety of games, but no franchise he’s worked on is as beloved as Silent Hill, and given the sheer amount of hype and anticipation there’s been for a new game, nothing else Yamaoka has worked on fits the bill as neatly.

The video was reported on by a variety of media outlets, but AI Hub took it down after being asked. They didn’t specify who asked them to remove the clip, but Konami would be the obvious answer – however, they have denied that they’re the responsible party, according to a statement they gave to VGC.

Silent Hill Downpour

Perhaps the game is being made by a third party, or Sony, the alleged exclusive home of the new Silent Hill game, were the ones asking for the video to be pulled? Either way, Yamaoka’s statements may not have mentioned SIlent Hill by name, but any mention by a member of Team Silent is going to lend credence to the speculation, so if you’re tired of constant speculation just hope that we get confirmation soon.
