Rockstar Games Announces Backwards Compatible Titles for Xbox Series X/S and Playstation 5

Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto V Are Amongst the Titles Listed

The excitement for the next generation of consoles from Microsoft and Sony is getting bigger everyday as we rapidly get closer to the launch of the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. While the topic of next gen games is definitely the main thing on people’s mind, finding out which of your favorite games you already own will be playable on your shiny new console is just as fun.

Rockstar Games has announced which of their last gen and classic titles will be backwards compatible on the next generation console’s launch days. The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto V are definitely the most exciting titles to make the list. Both games still have very active online communities and are fantastic single player experiences. Even 7 years after the game’s initial release, Grand Theft Auto is still receiving support as the game is consistently getting new updates to the online campaign–keeping players engaged and active.

The most recent versions of L.A. Noire (including the PlayStation VR version of L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files) will also be available to play on the Series X/S and PlayStation 5. All of these games will be available to play through inserting your disc copy into your Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5 (note that the Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5 Digital Only will not be able to play physical games). Digital owners will be able to instantly download any of their compatible games when the new consoles launch. Past save files will be able to be transferred to your next gen console through either of the system’s cloud services (Xbox Live or PlayStation Plus), through LAN cables, connecting wirelessly, or with USB storage.

Bully: Scholarship Edition
Grand Theft Auto IV
Grand Theft Auto V
Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
