EA Reveals Its Plan for the Next Fiscal Year
Electronic Arts recently held its Q2 2021 earnings conference call and it suggested to investors that they’ll be releasing six next-gen games between April 1st, 2021, and March 31st, 2022. Chief Executive Officer Andrew Wilson said during the call that EA is committed to providing a smooth transition for gamers on current-gen consoles moving over to the next-gen consoles. EA recently released Criterion Games’ Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered which is available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
According to Chief Executive Officer at EA Andrew Wilson the company is expecting significant growth over the next fiscal year, predicting “continued expansion into FY22 (fiscal year) and beyond.”
“DICE is creating our next Battlefield game with never-before-seen scale. The technical advancements of the new consoles are allowing the team to deliver on a true next-gen vision for the franchise,” said Andrew Wilson. “We have hands-on play testing underway internally, and the team’s been getting very positive feedback on the game as we’ve begun to engage our community. The next Battlefield is set to launch in Holiday 2021, and we are excited to share a lot more about the game in the Spring.”
Three of the upcoming six EA games releasing next fiscal quarter are expected to be sports titles (FIFA, NHL, and Madden), but EA has also confirmed a next-gen Battlefield for the Holiday 2021 release window and a new Need for Speed game from the developers at Criterion who just shipped Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered. While we have an idea of what five of the upcoming six titles will be, the sixth hasn’t been confirmed or teased by EA, leaving us wondering if it’s another Star Wars game, the new Dragon Age, or the upcoming Mass Effect officially confirmed by Bioware today.
