Animal Crossing: New Horizons Continues to Sell Well

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Exceeds 26 Million Units Sold

Nintendo has recently updated its first-party games’ sales figures, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons is closing on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as the best-selling Nintendo Switch title. Animal Crossing: New Horizons has just recently surpassed 26 million units sold, while Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has sold 28.99 million units. While the newest generation of Pokemon got a lot of flack when it released, it continues to sell well, with Pokemon Sword & Shield surpassing 19 million units sold. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch right now.

According to Nintendo’s sales figures, these are the top ten sellers for the Nintendo Switch: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at 28.99 million, Animal Crossing: New Horizons at 26.04 million, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at 21.10 million, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at 19.74 million, Pokemon Sword & Pokemon Shield at 19.02 million, Super Mario Odyssey at 18.99 million, Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! & Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee! at 12.49 million, Super Mario Party at 12.10 million, Splatoon 2 at 11.27 million, and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe at 8.32 million.

With the holiday season coming up soon, it’s likely that these Nintendo sales figures will increase over the next few months and it’s entirely possible that Animal Crossing: New Horizons will overtake Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as the best selling Nintendo Switch title. Considering the success of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at launch, it’s surprising to see newer Nintendo Switch titles catch up or surpass it in sales, while it’s among two other titles that were previously available on the Wii U and were later ported to Nintendo Switch (the others being Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe).
