Get Spooky With Animal Crossing: New Horizons October Update

Can You Craft Pumpkin Spice?

When the global pandemic had reached critical mass earlier this year, Animal Crossing: New Horizons was there for us to lean on. In many places, like North America, a resurgence of COVID-19 is on our doorstep, and just in time for Halloween! There is even talk of Halloween festivities being scaled back this year because of the pandemic. We may not see a resurgence in the Animal Crossing phenomenon like we did in the Spring, but there is new content coming that can help you celebrate Halloween digitally.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

There had been a couple of free Summer updates over the past few months. It appears that trend will continue with seasonal updates for certain holidays and celebrations. Nintendo has released a taste of what will be coming in the next update for Halloween items and activities. Players will be able to planet and harvest pumpkins, which can be used in crafting new Halloween items. You will also be able to shop for different costumes like Mage Dresses, Princess gowns, and what appear to be Tron suits. These costumes in combination with different skin tones and eye colors will make you Trick or Treat-ready.

Speaking of Trick or Treating, on October 31st, between 5:00 PM and 12:00 AM, players will be able to meet Jack, the Czar of Halloween. You will be able to share candy with friends and villagers during this time as well. This update will go live later this week on September 30th. Nintendo also is teasing a free update for early November, which will be Thanksgiving/Christmas themed. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
