Epic Games continues to offer quality freebies through their PC storefront, with two big sequels joining the lineup this week. Halloween is coming up this Saturday, but fans of the spooky holiday can already embrace the spirit of it with Costume Quest 2 and Layers of Fear 2 on the Epic Games Store. Both Layers of Fear 2 and Costume Quest 2 are available to play right now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but the Epic Games Store is offering them both for free right now.
Double Fine’s Costume Quest 2 is like the original in design, encouraging gamers to dress up and become “Hallo-warriors,” wielding collectible treat cards against a “megalomaniacal dentist with an anti-candy agenda who is leapfrogging through the space-time continuum, leading to a grim future where Halloween has been outlawed,” according to the official Epic Games Store listing for the game. While it’s a great party game to enjoy with friends, Costume Quest 2 is also a great way to embrace the Halloween spirit without getting too spooked.
Layers of Fear 2 is a first-person psychological horror game that follows a Hollywood actor who takes the lead role on a project that he probably should have avoided. Early on in the game, there’s apparently a chilling atmosphere that is later replaced by an attempt at “psychoanalytical storytelling.” Costume Quest 2 and Layers of Fear 2 are both available until tomorrow when they’ll be replaced by Blair Witch and Ghostbusters: The Video Game, two more spooky games to expand your Epic Games Store collection with.
