The Medium Has a Release Date and an Eerie New Trailer

Venture Into a Grim and Unsettling Reality

It’s coming. And there’s nothing we can do to stop it. But really, why would you want to stop Bloober Team’s upcoming survival horror game, The Medium, from its hotly-anticipated launch? This third-person horror-mystery excursion is expected to hit shelves on December 10th, 2020, for PC and Microsoft’s next-gen consoles. Players will take the role of Marianne, a medium who can see and communicate with the spirits of the dead, and journey into a beautiful but dangerous otherworld accompanied by the discordant tunes of Akira Yamaoka and Arkadiusz Reikowski. It sounds like a trip back to those nostalgic Silent Hill days and we are so ready for it. If this new trailer showcasing the many spooky environs that await is anything to work off of, you should be, too.

The premise is simple: you have psychic powers. These allow you to see things no one else can see and hear things no one else can hear, and if you’re careless, they’ll kill you–those things out there, not your psychic powers. Probably. Your goal is to find out what happened at the Niwa resort, but it won’t give up its secrets without a fight. The Maw is coming, and it is hungry. If you want to survive, you must solve puzzles in two worlds and unravel the truth. Unspeakable tragedy awaits…

From the spooky setting to the dread-inducing sound design to the painful nostalgia to the enthralling dual-reality mechanics, we’re loving everything Bloober Team has shown us so far. If you enjoyed their previous survival horror outing, Layers of Fear, definitely check The Medium out. Even if you don’t have fond, traumatized memories of Layers of Fear, we recommend you check The Medium out anyway, because it’s now available for preorder on Steam and there’ll be 10% off that price tag until November 3rd. So what are you waiting for?
