Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Sneaks Right In on Schedule

Into the Spider-Verse

PS5 launch title Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is golden! No, not literally–it’s just gone gold, meaning that the initial game work is completed on both PS4 and PS5. No matter which version you’re shopping for, you’ll be able to snap up Miles Morales in a few short weeks. Insomniac Games celebrated this achievement with a finely-aged Spider-Man meme, inspired by the infamous 60’s cartoon and its equally infamous animation. In this post, character models of the game’s titular protagonist are shown slinking dramatically in the fashion of Peter Parker in the old cartoon. It’s both a hilarious marketing stunt and an excellent way to show off the skins available for Miles to swap between in-game. How sneaky!

We’re celebrating, too–with a recap everything we know about the new Spider-Man game. Let’s begin with a reminder of the hype we all felt when the game was announced for PS5 this holiday. Soon, we had details, though they didn’t start out all that concrete. Yes, executive vice president of business operations at PlayStation Europe, Simon Rutter, we are looking at you. “I guess you could call it an expansion and an enhancement to the previous game,” only goes so far. Especially when later announcements called Miles Morales a standalone title. Finally, the release date was set, preorders began, and the curtain was drawn back, revealing the Launch Edition and Ultimate Launch Edition in all their glory. New suits! New gadgets! A copy of Spider-Man Remastered! All the Spidey goodness you could ask for.

Now we know that Miles Morales is set to release on November 12th, that it will follow teenage Miles as he struggles to assume the mantle of Spider-Man, and that Peter Parker will act as a mentor to Miles, though if the movie is anything to go by it may not last long. Players will find themselves in the middle of an urban war between a devious power company and a high-tech criminal army.
