Xbox iOS App to Allow for Pre-Installing Games

Xbox iOS App Getting Better Functionality

As part of an upcoming Xbox iOS app update, fans of the Microsoft console will be able to pre-install games before owning them. This is made possible through pre-ordering a game either digitally or physically using the Xbox App if you’re unable to do it directly through the Xbox One. This makes it possible for gamers on the go to pre-order and pre-install games on their consoles, making sure it’ll be available for launch day. The Xbox App is available for both iOS and Android now.

“Xbox has a new feature that allows you to download and install any game, even if you don’t own it,” noticed the eagle-eyed gaming journalist Jerko Cilas. “For example, if you have ordered a disc version of the game you will be able to preload the game before your game arrives. Meaning you can play the game the moment you insert the game.” Currently, the Android version of the Xbox app allows for the download of pre-ordered titles, but the iOS version of the app will be getting the same feature soon.

Microsoft apparently wants gamers to immediately be able to play their games when they release, whether they’re pre-ordering the games through their Xbox One on the Xbox App. It’ll be interesting if these changes to the iOS Xbox App make a difference in pre-order sales now that gamers will be able to locate and purchase upcoming games on the go before downloading them remotely as well. Android users already had this functionality and are able to reap the rewards of Game Pass Ultimate through Project xCloud, with Apple users getting shafted on this end as well.

Will you be pre-ordering more games utilizing the Xbox App now that you can start downloading the game ahead of time? Let us know in the comments below!
