The PS5 Will Have the Best Wifi in the History of PlayStation
According to a Brazilian site known as Technoblog, the PS5 will have Wifi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1, which will both increase performance compared to the current generation of PlayStation. WiFi 6 standard offers a maximum download speed of 9.6gbps compared to the original PS4 offered maximum speeds of 300mbps and the fifth-generation tech in the PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim offered a maximum of 3.5gbps. The PS5 will be releasing later this year, with PlayStation Plus expected to carry over to the next generation of PlayStation.
Wifi 6 is 32 times faster than the Wifi 4 chip in the original PS4. WiFi 6 is also said to be more stable in Wifi-congested areas, allowing people in busy areas a more seamless experience than current-gen hardware. Wifi 6 is currently the best Wifi available to Sony and apparently they’ll be including it as a key fixture of their next-gen gaming console. Considering the original PS4 units only offer 300mbps, this Wifi upgrade will be a big deal for PlayStation fans.
Bluetooth 5.1 isn’t the latest generation of Bluetooth, with 5.2 also available now, but Sony is apparently bringing the PS5 nearly up to date with the Bluetooth technology. Bluetooth 2.1 was used in the original PS4 and Bluetooth 4.0 is what the PS4 Pro utilizes, so upgrading to 5.1 is a big leap for anyone who has the original PS4 model, and a step in the right direction for PS4 Pro owners. It’s likely that the improved Bluetooth will bring more Bluetooth enabled devices to the next-gen PlayStation console.
