Halo TV Series Isn’t to Blame for Halo Infinite Delay
According to 343 Industries, the Showtime Halo TV series isn’t part of the reasons Halo Infinite has been delayed. While they didn’t address the outsourcing rumor perpetuated by Microsoft insider Brad Sams, they claim that the Halo TV series has a dedicated transmedia team that’s separate from the Halo Infinite team. Halo Infinite continues the story set up by Halo: The Master Chief collection and Halo 5: Guardians, which are both available through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
“343 Industries has a devoted transmedia team that is working with Showtime on the creation and production of the Halo TV show,” said a recent statement from 343 Industries. “This group is separate from the Halo Infinite development team. These are two completely independent projects with dedicated teams and leadership that do not impact one another.” While rumors suggested that the Halo TV series is a significant distraction for the studio’s management, it apparently isn’t impacting the development of Halo Infinite.
According to 343 Industries Community Manager John Junyszek, “there will not be a Community Update this week. We know there are lots of questions out there, especially in regards to Halo Infinite, but please hold tight for now. There’s a lot to work through, including communication plans, but please know we’ll share more when ready.” Even though the rumors about the Showtime Halo TV series impacting Halo Infinite’s development, it’s likely that the outsourcing is a factor and, of course, COVID-19 is an issue.
