Fly Around the Galaxy in Star Wars: Squadrons
The Microsoft Store has recently leaked an upcoming Star Wars title that looks to be focused on piloting vehicles within the Star Wars universe. Star Wars: Squadrons shares aspects of its name with Star Wars: Rogue Squadron which released on the PC and N64 and that title focused exclusively on elite X-wing pilots. The Microsoft Store featured both the Rebellion and Imperial fighters alongside a tagline of tagline “Pilots wanted.” Considering EA and Disney release projects across multiple consoles, it’s likely that Star Wars: Squadrons will be cross-platform but the Microsoft Store has the options for fans to Pre-Order Now.
While it’s currently unknown which platforms Star Wars: Squadrons will wind up on, it’s likely that this is the first Star Wars title to be confirmed for the Xbox Series X and PS5 considering the Holiday 2020 release window for next-gen consoles. It’s likely that Electronic Arts will discuss Star Wars: Squadrons in detail during their upcoming EA Play on June 18th, which was originally expected to take place on June 11th. While this leak hasn’t been confirmed yet, it’s likely that Star Wars: Squadrons is a real project considering the source, but either way, it’s best to take things with a grain of salt until an official reveal.
Considering fans of Star Wars will be able to play as the Rebellion and Imperial pilots in Star Wars: Squadrons, it will probably be the most fleshed out vehicular-based Star Wars title to date. Although fans can click on the pre-order now button, it currently leads to a dead page so Microsoft seems well aware of the mistake in advertising the unannounced Star Wars title. It’s possible that Microsoft initially intended for the pre-order to go live with the initial EA Play set time but they didn’t change it when EA Play was pushed back, leading to an inadvertent leak.
