$4,600 Ships Raise Star Citizen’s Crowdfunding to Over $300 Million

Star Citizen Fans Will Support This Game to the Very End

Star Citizen is a name you hear once in a while and wonder, wow, that’s still going on? Yup, seven years after their original Kickstarter run, they are still in development and still raising funds. Recently, with the release of a ship pack that costs a whopping $4,600, their crowdfunding hit $300 million.

Star Citizen Passes 150 Million Dollar Crowdfunding Milestone

There isn’t a direct proof that it was the new ship that caused the pledges to hit $300 million, but just between May 26th to June 1st there was a spike of $8 million pledged, coinciding with the release of their newest “Drake Complete Pack 2950”. That is more than $1 million dollars a day for a game that has been in development for almost a decade now. This stuff absolutely blows my mind.

With an absolute collection of whales supporting the game, it seems like the more expensive the packs and more exclusive the ships are, the better it sells. I know, most of you are probably like me, wondering how one can spend so much money on an in-game item that hasn’t even been released.

Well, I’ll say the same thing I say every time I see this game back on the news: I really hope it doesn’t disappoint.
