Its Mojang Studios NowÂ
Mojang has rebranded itself into Mojang Studios. They have done this to better represent what they feel best describes the company. While many might think that Mojang is just one studio that is responsible for pumping out new ideas, it has actually been dozens of various studios scattered around the world that have contributed to some of the company’s most famous work. The new name Mojang Studios is supposed to conjure the image of multiple small teams all working on multiple projects.
As it stands right now the number one priority of Mojang is obviously Minecraft. There are almost endless updates and details that can be added to a game like that and it does not look like Mojang is interesting in stopping anytime soon. Minecraft is one of the most popular games of all time. Despite being more than 10 years old, it is still as relevant as ever.
That being said, that does not mean that there are not more things to come in the future. Mojang has said that they have a movie on the way as well as a live event. The details surround both of these topics are minimal at best, but we know that they are on the way. We can also expect to see more games later on too.
Despite the original mastermind behind Minecraft being long gone, the company is still thriving. It is not uncommon for large developers to branch out into new aspects of the industry. Much like Valve, EA, and Ubisoft perhaps we could one day see Mojang Studios reach the same level of influence. We know that they have the money to do it. While changing your company’s name might not be earth-shattering, the possibility of reaching out to new horizons certainly is.
