Neil Druckmann Talks the Health and Safety of Naughty Dog Staff
During a recent interview, creative director of The Last of Us Part II Neil Druckmann, opened up about frustrations in delaying the upcoming PS4 exclusive. While the game was delayed indefinitely, the director claims the game is pretty much done but the studio is trying to figure out how to get the sequel out to all of the fans worldwide in an appropriate matter that won’t exclude some regions. There are still a few bugs in the game but apparently Naughty Dog delayed the game for health and safety concerns and logistical problems. The Last of Us Part II has been delayed indefinitely but when Naughty Dog is able to get it out to all of their fans, it’ll release exclusively for the PS4.
“We want to polish it as much as we can. Taking our time to review each section, and making sure it’s all Naughty Dog quality,” said Neil Druckmann. “It’s there. That’s the frustrating part for us. The game is there, and we have to sit on it for a little bit and figure out what’s the best way to get it to our fans… “This is a worldwide game that people in every country are waiting for, and we want to make sure we’re fair.”
“We’re right now looking at all sorts of different options,” continued Neil Druckmann. “What’s the best way to get it to all of our fans as soon as possible? But that’s going to take time for us to shift and figure things out, and also see where the world’s at. Things are changing from day to day… We were saying ‘look, there’s a lot going on in the world right now. Take time to take care of yourself. Take time to be with your family.’ We even told them, ‘Look, if we miss our date, we miss our date. We’ll figure it out, but you come first.’”
While this indefinite delay may shock and upset many fans, it seems as though Naughty Dog made the right decision. Which delay this generation has upset you the most? Let us know in the comments below!
