The Last of Us HBO Series Will Follow the Original Game

That’s a Lot of Source Material

The Last of Us TV show on HBO was announced last week and fans have been buzzing. There is still a lot of missing information surround the show at the moment but things are being slowly revealed as time passes. The director of the show has recently confirmed that the show will be based heavily on the game. This news has caused many fans to let out a sigh of relief as there have been dozens of shows or movies that have tried their hands at straying from the source material and failing miserably because of it.

How closely the show will be based on the video game is anyone’s guess. There are of course varying degrees of “adaptation” that a show can take. Much like the phrase “based on a true story” before a horror movie, there is no telling how much they will actually take from the game. At the very least we should expect to see Joel and Ellie.

Video game TV shows seem to be the hot new thing that networks are jumping on nowadays. Ever since The Witcher was able to not totally flop on Netflix there have been rumors and open discussions from studios about launching their own shows based on video games. It only adds to the sensationalism when a massive company like HBO announces that they will be taking a stab at it as well.

The Last of Us is a great game for HBO to use for a show. The Last of Us is a very dark, gritty, and mature world that should excel under the watch of HBO. Knowing them, there is going to be very little censored out. Violence, swearing, and nudity are HBO’s trademarks at this point, its a match made in heaven.
