The Last of Us Part 2 Documentary Set to Release on February 2, 2024

Naughty Dog Unveils Behind-the-Scenes Insight into The Last of Us Part 2 Development

Naughty Dog has officially announced the release date for Grounded 2: Making The Last of Us Part 2, a documentary offering an in-depth look at the creation of the critically acclaimed game. Scheduled for February 2, 2024, the documentary will be available on YouTube and as part of an upcoming downloadable patch for The Last of Us Part 2: Remastered. To mark the occasion, the developer is introducing new skins for Ellie and Abby within the remastered edition.

In a recent post on Twitter, Naughty Dog shared the news along with a brief glimpse into what fans can expect from the documentary. The two-minute trailer, released earlier in the month, provides a behind-the-scenes journey into the development process of The Last of Us Part 2, spanning back to 2016. Viewers will gain insights from key moments in the game’s creation, including challenges faced when a significant leak revealed crucial story details before the official launch. Director Neil Druckmann and various team members make appearances in the trailer, sharing their perspectives on the development journey.

Grounded 2 follows in the footsteps of the original documentary released in 2014, which provided an 85-minute feature on the making of the first game in the series. This sequel documentary promises to offer an even more immersive exploration into the intricacies of game development, showcasing the evolution of ideas and the collaborative efforts of the development team.

As The Last of Us Part 2: Remastered made its debut on January 19, bringing various enhancements, including a roguelike mode, graphical upgrades, and new content like the Lost Levels with developer commentary, Grounded 2 serves as a continuation of the celebration surrounding the iconic game. With no further announcements for additional games in the series, Grounded 2 may well be the final immersive journey into the beloved post-apocalyptic universe for the foreseeable future. The Lost Levels, integrated into the remastered edition, raise anticipation and concern among fans, particularly regarding the inclusion of the cut Sewers level.
