Ryan Reynolds’ Free Guy Release Rescheduled Due to COVID-19

December 11th [Fingers Crossed]

If it weren’t for the Coronavirus, we would probably still be staying inside and playing video games. Although, we would also be awaiting the release of Free Guy this summer. I would call it Video Games: The Movie, but that already exists. Ryan Reynolds AKA Deadpool AKA Hollywood’s Cool Best Friend stars in Free Guy and says that it is his favourite movie he’s ever made. Unfortunately, the original theatrical release date of July 3rd, will be pushed back due to… Well, the same cause of everything that’s being delayed and pushed back lately.

Free Guy Trailer

If you have not yet seen any shred of Free Guy, it is about an NPC named Guy (Reynolds), who lives his life being shot at, run over, and everything else that online players regularly do to NPCs. One day, he becomes self-aware and changes his life forever. In light of the movie’s rescheduling, Ryan Reynolds released a short new trailer with the new tentative release date. It shows Guy in his morning breakfast routine, eating cereal, and watching the weather forecast. In Guy’s world, the forecast is peppered with warnings of violence and gunfire, which everyone is used to by now. The trailer ends with a December 11th release date.

Reynolds released the trailer on Instagram, mentioning that it was cut before Disney acquired 20th Century Fox. He also calls it “a weirdly appropriate clip”. Free Guy stars Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer, Joe Keery, Taika Waititi, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Camille Kostek, and is (hopefully) coming out on December 11th.
