Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney claimed that the Epic Games Store will continue to see great deals and free games offered throughout 2020. From the beginning of 2019 until the final days of it, Epic Games gave away 73 titles for free on their store. The total value of these titles if a gamer managed to download every single one amounts to $1,455 of value for free, with the games having an average score of 80%. While the platform has 108 million gamers, more than 200 million free games have been downloaded by them. Gamers can check out the latest deals and free games on the Epic Games Store for PC now.
“Exclusives have been critical in gaining momentum in the presence of a competitor that began 2019 with more than 90% market share.” said Tim Sweeney. “Securing exclusives for Epic means we can significantly assist developers with product funding and invest in marketing and awareness knowing that these efforts bring in new customers to our store, rather than just sending more business to the incumbent.” It seems like the Epic Games Store business model is successful in achieving what Epic was looking to accomplish considering they’re going full steam ahead into 2020.
On a recent press release, Epic Games also confirmed more giveaways in 2020 by stating, “Happy New Year! New decade means new games and we’re looking at a great start with tons of amazing titles coming exclusively to the Epic Games Store in 2020. To kick things off, we’re extending our weekly free game program throughout 2020. Every single week, come back to claim your game. Once claimed, it’s yours to keep forever.” They’ll be yours forever assuming the platform continues to succeed as it did in 2019.
