Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Shifting Tides Gets an Animated Trailer

Mercs Cost Money, Just Like in Real Life

For some reason, even though Operation Shifting Tides has been out for over two weeks, Ubisoft released an animated trailer for the two newest Operators. In this trailer, you see Kali and her Nighthaven crew, including Wamai, save a tanker from pirates. The two of them use their signature weapons and gadgets to take out the attackers. You may be wondering why have a trailer like this at all? Especially after the Operation began a while ago. Well, there are a couple of justifications. Plus, gameplay just isn’t as cinematic as what Ubisoft was obviously going for.

Operation Shifting Tides

The big reason is that because the Rainbow Six Siege cast of Operators is growing so fast and includes so many different countries and organizations, at some point Ubisoft needs to answer why they are teaming up, often to shoot their own colleagues. With Nighthaven being the first fictional organization, Ubisoft had the opportunity to tell an original story with Kali and Wamai. They are mercs, fighting for the largest paycheque. Rainbow Six hires them A) so that nobody else does, and B) so that they can keep an eye on them.

There is also a new item in the Rainbow Six Siege store called the Nighthaven R&D Collection. This is a bundle of items that outfit Alibi, Fuze, IQ, Rook, Jackal, and Mute in Nighthaven gear. The six packs for six characters cost 300 R6 Credits or 12,500 Renown. They can be purchase with either form of currency. These packs are available now, until January 6th. Rainbow Six Siege is available on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
